Grape Surprise
Ingredients:
For pastry
100 gms maida
40 gms butter
25 gms ground peanuts
1/3 cup castor sugar
1 ½ tbsps ice cold water
For sauce
1 cup purple grape puree
1 tbsp castor sugar
Few drops lemon juice
For filling
1 cup green grapes sliced
1 cup whipped cream
For topping
A few green and purple grapes
A little icing sugar
Method:
1. Sieve maida, add sugar , groundnuts and rub in the butter.
2. Make a dough with cold water.
3. Chill the dough for 20 minutes.
4. Roll into a ¼ “ thick chapatti and cut with a round cutter.
5. Place on a greased baking tray and bake in a preheated oven at 200 degrees Celsius for 15 – 20 minutes or till golden.
6. Cool and keep aside.
7. Puree the purple grapes in a blender, add sugar and lemon juice.
8. Strain and chill.
9. Place one shortcake(biscuit) on a plate, place a little cream, sliced grapes and sandwich with another short cake.
10. To serve place the sandwich in a serving plate/bowl, top with icing sugar and sliced grapes and pour the sauce over and around the pie.
