Ingredients:
For pastry
230 gms maida
½ tsp baking powder
100 gms vanaspati
100 gms castor sugar
Cold water to make the dough
For filling
500 gms apple
¼ cup sugar
Juice of 1 lemon
1 tsp cinnamon and nutmeg powder
For topping
2 tbsps demerara(brown) sugar
1 tbsp butter
Method:
1. Mix all the ingredients for the pastry and make a pliable dough with enough cold water.
2. Rest for 15-20 minutes and roll into a thick chapatti to fit a greased pie dish.
3. Trim the extra pastry , prick with a fork and bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius for 20-25 minutes.
4. Peal and core the apples.
5. Slice one apple for decoration and chop rest of the apples.
6. Mix all ingredients for the filling with the chopped apples and cook to form a thick pulp.
7. Fill the pie base and arrange the sliced apple over the filling.
8. Sprinkle demerera sugar and dot with butter.
9. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius for 15-20 mins.
10. Serve with icecream , custard or whipped cream.
